We make a Scandi-inspired coffee table

We have just made and delivered this coffee table for a client in Pembrokeshire, a final piece of furniture to complete their delightful new eco-home. Like the house itself, the table's simple lines hide a host of interesting technical challenges that resolve into a functional but elegant whole. It was hard to make, but very satisfying in the process.
Made from English ash milled by our chums at English Woodland Timbers, its Scandi design form is inspired by the work of furniture designer-maker Johannes Andersen (see earlier post). The table incorporates a discreet drawer with a hand-carved pull on each side and the top boards taper into breadboards at the ends. The slender turned legs are set at a slight angle and sit harmoniously with the angled sides of the aprons - the effect takes on a striking ‘wing’ form that is, we think, as unusual as it is beautiful.
You’ll be the judge but we were very gratified by the warm reaction of our client at delivery. If you have in mind a table or indeed any other piece of furniture that you would like to realise we are standing by to help you bring it to life.
